In the beginning…

The Lucky7 Katana 1170

Born out of frustration with modern bikes performing well but looking like they came out of a jelly-mould, the Lucky7 Katana was built.

We took a 1982 Suzuki Katana 750 and added inspiration from the styling houses of Japan to drag it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. The frame was braced and massaged to allow a 6″ magnesium Dymag wheel at the back matched by the front 17″ rim.

Add to this the Kayaba upside down forks, radial brakes, thumb rear brake, top of the line Ohlins shock absorbers plus countless small details and state-of-the-art craftsmanship that Lucky7 are known for.

This gave us a sound foundation to install the 16 valve aircooled Suzuki motor. Running 1170 Wiseco pistons, flowed head, 37mm Keihin Crs, Dyna ignition system and a one-off Racefit exhaust system.

This build really was a true labour of love, and has created great interest within the biking community, both online and off at shows and in mags. In fact it’s led to us getting involved in some fantastic projects and along the way we’ve met some of the best craftsmen and specials builders that the UK has.

We currently have a few builds under our belt and there are two project bikes underway at the moment, another Suzuki 1100, this time an ET, featuring a 1260 efe engine and some double hard styling and a more subtle 1985 Yamaha FZ750.

However, we’re always interested in hearing about new projects, from a part to a whole build. If you love bikes and you like what we’ve done then get in touch.
